Take note about chopping to the drum. If there are drums. Chop the sample to the kick or the snare. you will make it easier on yourself when you are putting the sample together. This is really for producers starting out into sampling.

You can filter out kicks with some eqing or dropping the frequency in the sample.

And there is no right way to make a beat. Just keep doing what you feel. Think outside the box and be creative.
